New selective-enrollment high school won’t bear Obama’s name

On Thursday Mayor Rahm Emanuel said that a $60 million selective-enrollment high school planned for the Goose Island area will not bear the name of President Barack Obama, as was previously announced.

City, federal government to provide $5M to reduce veteran homelessness

On Tuesday the Emanuel administration announced the city would partner with federal agencies under a $5 million-a-year initiative to end veteran homelessness in Chicago by the end of 2015.

As part of its effort to end homelessness among veterans, the city will partner with the Chicago Housing Authority, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development, according to the Mayor’s Office.
