Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Monday announced a new Divvy bike-share membership discount for Chicago-area college students.

The Divvy Student Membership program will allow students at the City Colleges of Chicago, DePaul University, Northwestern University, University of Illinois at Chicago, Columbia College and Rush University Medical Center to purchase an annual Divvy bike membership for $20 less than Divvy’s usual $75 annual membership fee.

The reforms would require the city to seek bids for the development of a smartphone app that enables consumers to hail traditional taxi cabs in a manner similar to systems used by ride-share industry drivers, among other things.
