Key stakeholders discuss elected school board measure at City Club

Members of the Illinois education community discussed the issue of an appointed vs. an elected Chicago Board of Education on Monday, the same day some Chicago voters could begin weighing in on whether they would like to see an elected board govern Chicago Public Schools.

Early voting for Chicago’s 2015 municipal elections began on Monday, and ballots in 37 wards include a question that reads, “Should the city of Chicago have an elected school board?”

State Board of Ed pushes school districts to administer PARCC exam

State officials on Friday called on Illinois school districts to administer the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) exams to all their students.
