Come fly with me. The Chicago Tribune provided some tips on how best to enjoy the 55th annual Chicago Air and Water Show this weekend.

Hat tip to Toby. Gov. Pat Quinn on Wednesday at the Illinois State Fair declared Aug. 14 to be Toby Keith Day in the Land of Lincoln, according to NBC Chicago. The governor’s declaration was made “in recognition of [the country music star’s] tremendous musical success and contributions to the country music genre and industry.” Keith is not from Illinois and had no previous connection to the state.

Down in front. Upon news that the Houston Texans will on Sunday debut the largest digital scoreboard in the NFL, technology blog Gizmodo published an infographic from Daniel Beaton which depicts the sizes of all NFL teams’ scoreboards. According to Chicago Sun-Times Digital Editor Marcus Gilmer – if the Chicago Cubs were a football team – the organization’s planned digital scoreboard would be the fifth-largest in the NFL.

Rum Day. In recognition of National Rum Day Friday, Chicagoist sought to educate its readers on the many varieties of the prolific spirit and the regions from which they originate. The publication suggests Three Dots and a Dash, the new River North tiki bar from Lettuce Entertain You, is a good place to try out variations of the drink.
