So. Ill. Democratic County Chairmen’s Assoc. endorses Kennedy for governor

Illinois gubernatorial candidate Chris Kennedy on Wednesday announced he had received the endorsement of the Southern Illinois Democratic County Chairman’s Association. A press release from the campaign claimed it was the first major endorsement in the race for governor on the Democratic side.

Kennedy, who previously ran the Chicago Merchandise Mart and is currently leading the privately-financed Wolf Point construction project in Chicago, said he was “honored to accept” the group’s endorsement. The SIDCCA stated, “[T]he number one priority for Southern Illinois should be increasing economic opportunity. Chris Kennedy’s commitment is to putting people back to work and he has a lifetime of experience upon which to draw.  Southern Illinois needs a candidate committed to an 'all of the above' approach to revitalizing the economy.”

Other candidates seeking the Democratic nomination in the 2018 race for governor include: Madison County Regional Superintendent of Schools Bob Daiber; Alex Paterakis, a civil engineer and small business owner from Long Grove; and Chicago Alderman Ameya Pawar. Chicago billionaire J.B. Pritzker one of the most notable members on the long list of Democrats who also considering running for governor next year.
