Local producer to chronicle ‘the greatest team in pro football history’

Filming is currently underway for "'85: The Untold Story of the Greatest Team in Pro Football History," a documentary about the 1985 Chicago Bears.

The film is slated for release in spring 2015 – the 30th anniversary of the Bears’ last NFL Super Bowl championship.

Chicagoan Rich Lenkov, Tom Pellegrini and Scott Prestin teamed up to produce the film. Lenkov’s previous credits include on-stage productions like “Rock of Ages” and “The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream.” Pellegrini previously produced the documentary “Jiro Dreams of Sushi,” and Prestin produced the “Wrigleyville” documentary.

Lenkov, Pellegrini and Prestin recruited 1985 Chicago Bears linebacker Otis Wilson to co-produce the film and signed native Chicagoan Jim Belushi as the film’s narrator.

“’85’ will celebrate the untold story of this team of unique characters though the voices of the players, coaches, super fans, prominent Chicagoans and members of the press,” according to a press release. The release goes on to note, “This will be the first in-depth telling of all that happened on and off the field during the championship season.”
