And the winner is ... Grant DePorter, CEO of Harry Caray Restaurant Group, cast the winning bid in an auction for the stitches that Chicago Blackhawks player Andrew Shaw received after being hit in the face by a puck during game six of the Stanley Cup championship series, according to Chicagoist. DePorter paid $6,500 for the stitches, which are framed with an autographed photo of Shaw. Proceeds of the sale benefit the V Foundation for Cancer Research.

Star sighting. Kelsey Grammer, best known for his role as Frasier Crane on the former NBC sitcoms “Frasier” and “Cheers” and as the mayor of Chicago on the cancelled Starz series “Boss,” filmed a scene for the forthcoming “Transformers 4” movie in Millennium Park on Sunday, the Chicago Tribune reported. Filming is expected to occur in the Uptown neighborhood on Wednesday and Thursday and on the Near East Side this weekend.

Beat the heat. Amid scorching heat in Chicagoland Tuesday, Township High School District 113 and North Shore School District 112 decided to send students home early, according to the Chicago Tribune. Both District 113’s Deerfield High School and Highland Park High School were to be dismissed this afternoon, while all but Oak Terrace Elementary School and Green Bay Early Childhood Center from District 112 were said to be releasing students early Tuesday afternoon.
