Quinn taps James Conway to head Illinois Independent Tax Tribunal

Gov. Pat Quinn on Saturday named James Conway chief administrative law judge of the Illinois Independent Tax Tribunal. The tribunal serves as an independent forum that allows Illinois taxpayers to challenge state tax assessments before paying disputed taxes.

Conway is currently associate chief of the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s criminal division.

Quinn announces appointments to state posts

Gov. Pat Quinn announced on Friday a number of appointments and reappointments to state boards and commissions.

Quinn reappointed Judge Aaron Jaffee as chairman to the Illinois Gaming Board. Jaffe has served in that role since 2005. Michael Holewinski, president of Ace Industries and a former Illinois state representative, was reappointed vice-chairman of the Gaming Board.
