The Chicago Plan Commission unanimously approved several new developments Thursday, including a private heliport in Bridgeport that many residents say they oppose.
Per the approved proposal, Chicago Helicopter Express (CHE) would build a $12.5 million heliport at the intersection of 24th and Halsted streets, on the banks of the south branch of the Chicago River. The 4.6-acre site, which borders the Pilsen and Chinatown neighborhoods, would feature 14 launch pads, a fueling station, a hangar and a water taxi dock.
