Mayor Rahm Emanuel introduced measures to the City Council on Wednesday aimed at curbing gun violence in Chicago.

One of those ordinances is designed to increase safety for students by creating  new “student safety zones” and hiking the penalties for serious weapon and gun-related offenses that take place in those zones.
