Capitol Fax publisher Rich Miller posted a survey on his website asking readers if they agreed with Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s plan to increase property taxes by $250 million to fund two of the city’s six pension systems; Out of 979 responses, 73 percent of participants said they disagreed, 19 percent ruled in favor of the mayor’s proposal and eight percent voted as being unsure

While speaking with Phil Ponce on WTTW’s “Chicago Tonight,” Mayor Emanuel admitted that he has alienated voters with his unwavering political decisions and added he might be able to benefit from being “smoother around the edges”; When shown the results of a recent Chicago Sun Times poll that determined only 29 percent of those surveyed currently support the mayor, Emanuel responded, “Thank God the election is not today.”
