Emanuel, Byrd-Bennett claim highest CPS graduation rate in 15 years

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago Public Schools Chief Executive Officer Barbara Byrd-Bennett jointly claimed on Tuesday that CPS is on track for the district’s highest graduation rate “ever” for this 2012-13 school year.

“We have achieved a great milestone – one for the record books,” Emanuel said at the City Club of Chicago on Tuesday, citing a statistic from CPS that 63 percent of high school seniors are projected to graduate this year.
