Chicago Board of Education members voted Wednesday to turn over three Chicago Public Schools to the Academy of Urban School Leadership effective for the upcoming 2014-15 school year. A Chicago-based private management company, AUSL already runs 29 CPS schools.
Board member Andrea Zopp voted against the turnaround proposals for Dvorak Technology Academy and McNair Elementary, but voted in favor of the turnaround at Gresham Elementary. All other members of the seven-person board green-lighted all three of the school actions.
