Travel woes? The Chicago Tribune reported that the new free smartphone app I'm Stuck allows distressed commuters that may be sitting in grid-locked traffic or on a delayed flight to painlessly call for assistance from their elected officials. Though the results are not immediate, the bipartisan group Building America's Future, which developed the app, hopes the data it produces will help congressmen make effective decisions regarding infrastructure in the future.

Birthday boy. Michael Ferro, the chairman of Chicago Sun-Times’ parent company Wrapports LLC, celebrated his 47th birthday at Chicago Cut Steakhouse on July 24. Crain’s Chicago Business columnist Shia Kapos said many prominent business and political leaders from the Chicago area attended the event, including Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Bill Daley and Andy McKenna, non-executive chairman of McDonald’s Corp.

Fotos del Sol. The Pilsen Neighbors Community Council held its annual Fiesta del Sol event this past weekend. Metromix has photos from the Midwest’s largest Latino festival.

Chi-Lego. Rocco Buttliere has an affinity for Legos, but it’s more than just child’s play. The sophomore Illinois Institute of Technology architecture student constructed a Lego replica of 14 Chicago high rises, built on a 1:650 scale. His collection, featured in a DNAinfo Chicago article, includes the Willis Tower, Hancock and Aon centers and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Tower. The project will be on display at the Brickworld convention in Fort Wayne, Ind. from Sept. 28 to 29.

Fast food. Chicagoist has compiled a list of the publication’s six favorite food trucks in the city. Whether you’re looking for a personal order of half-a-dozen donuts or a tamale served by a guy in a Mexican wrestling mask, this list has a little something for everybody.
