Rahm delivers

On the heels of his appearance on “Late Show with David Letterman” earlier this month, Mayor Rahm Emanuel appeared Sunday on Food Network’s  “The Great Food Truck Race” to judge some Chicago style deep dish pizzas. The show filmed Emanuel sampling a Hawaiian-inspired deep dish, a chicken and feta cheese pizza (with yogurt instead of tomato sauce) and “The Ditka,” a deep dish pie with eight different Italian meats and cheeses, on a sunny day near Buckingham Fountain.

The long hall

The Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame announced its 2013 inductees this week. The list of honorees this year includes puppeteer and television industry pioneer Burr Tillstrom, Laura Ricketts – a part owner of the Chicago Cubs – and Midwest regional director for Lambda Legal James Bennett. Inspired by the announcement, Chicago Sun-Times columnist Neil Steinberg, who will be honored at the November 12 induction ceremony as a “Friend of the Community,” compiled on his blog excerpts from some of his writings on LGBT issues.
