Divvy tip

Debra Shore, commissioner on the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Board, on Friday tweeted a picture of herself making her “maiden” Divvy bike voyage. Some words of the wise from the commissioner: “DON’T wear a skirt on a windy day like I did.”

Transformers in town

Scenes for the upcoming “Transformers 4” movie will be filmed in the South Loop this weekend. According to the neighborhood blog Sloopin, which published an image of a sign posted in the Roosevelt Collection Lofts at Clark Street and Roosevelt Road in the neighborhood, filming was scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. today on both sides of Wells Street – from Finanical Place to Roosevelt Road. Filming in the area on Saturday is expected to close west-bound traffic on Roosevelt Road between Delano Court and Canal Street.

Cleared for take off

The Midway Fly Away 5K takes place Sunday morning at Midway Airport on Chicago’s Southwest Side. Proceeds from the event will benefit Special Olympics Chicago, which aims to promote physical well-being and sportsmanship to disabled children and adults through sport. If you are yet to sign up, race day registration will cost you $40 and will be available from 6 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. in the Southwest Airlines hangar. Visit Beta.Active.com for more information.

Fall fun

As summer slips away and Chicagoans begin to exchange days relaxing at the lake or dining on rooftop patios for more indoor-oriented activities, the Chicago Reader has compiled a list of music, theater, dance and comedy performances – and other events – that you won’t want to miss in Chicago this fall.
