What a couple

Tressa Feher, chief of staff for Alderman James Cappleman (46th), and her partner Lauren Peters (Cappleman’s political strategist), were recently named Couple of the Week by the marriage equality rights advocacy group Illinois Unites for Marriage. While news broke last week that Alderman Cappleman will head to Washington state in November to marry his longtime partner, Feher and Peters – who are expecting their first child – told DNAinfo Chicago they are holding out in hopes that they may one day soon be wed in the Land of Lincoln.

Fed up

Jim Dababneh, owner of Pizzeria Aroma in Edgewater and a news junkie that studied political science in college, on Wednesday offered a small win for customers that were fed up with the federal government shutdown. Saying that his business saw a 15 to 17 percent decline in sales during the shutdown, the pizzeria owner decided to extended to customers an 18 percent discount on online orders of over $22 through Friday, according to DNAinfo Chicago. Dababneh will continue to honor his offer through the end of the day today even though the federal government shutdown ended Wednesday.

Pink night

Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation on Thursday evening held the “Perfect Pink Night” event on the patio of the Chicago Cut Steakhouse in the River North neighborhood. Despite a minor delay in the foundation’s plan to illuminate the LaSalle Street bridge with pink lights at 6:07 p.m., Crain’s Chicago Business’ Shia Kapos reported that guests were “giddy” to wait and continue schmoozing on the patio.

Ouch
