Turkey time

Chicago’s 80th annual McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be led by actress Drew Sidora as grand marshall, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The parade will take place with the help of over 1,000 volunteers and feature over 100 marching bands, floats and other attractions. Festivities kick off at 8 a.m. at Congress Parkway and State Street in the Loop.

Who’s hungry?

Greg Hinz of Crain’s Chicago Business in a column today named Illinois officials worthy of receiving an “abundance of turkeys” after making headlines for their political blunders this year.

Among those named by Hinz are the entire staff of Metra for the suburban rail agency’s political patronage scandal, ex-Chicago Comptroller Amer Ahmad – who resigned suddenly to explore “new professional opportunities” this summer shortly before being indicted on an illegal kickback scheme in Ohio, and Decatur-based Archer Daniels Midland Co. and other Illinois corporations demanding tax incentives to keep their operations instate. Repeal Day celebration

MillerCoors is rolling out signage, in-store sampling and bar parties with brand ambassadors wearing flapper outfits on Thursday, Dec.5 as part of its Repeal Day campaign to promote the Chicago-based company’s Batch 19 beer, according to Crain’s Chicago Business. The day marks the 80th anniversary of the day that Utah became the 36th state to affirm the 21st Amendment, ending prohibition.
