Wagons west

From DNAInfoChicago.com: Chicago Park District Cultural and Natural Resources Director Adam Schwerner, who built gardens in Grant Park and led a project that involved painting dead trees along the Chicago lakefront, has been hired as Disney’s director of horticulture and resort enhancement. In that role, Schwerner will oversee ornate gardening at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif.

Nice wheels

Chicago Magazine Associate Editor Whet Moser provided ChicagoMag.com with photos and descriptions of some of his favorite cars at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show. The annual McCormick Place car show opens to the general public on Saturday and runs through Monday, Feb. 17.

Expanding Horizons

Entertainment website Chicago.Metromix.com published a list of free admission days at Chicago museums, including The Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Admission at The National Museum of Mexican Art is free for the entire month of February, and kids ages three to 11 can enter the Museum of Science and Industry for free all month long.

Business Advice from the White House

White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett will be the featured panelist at the Strong Cities, Strong Nation event on Monday at The Gleacher Center of the Booth School of Business.  Other panelists will include Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Grovenro Capital Management CEO and World Buisiness Chicago Vice Chairman Michael Sacks, and University of Chicago President Robert Zimmer. Julia Stash, the vice president for U.S. programs at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, will moderate the discussion. The event, which is being hosted by World Business Chicago, begins at 9:00 am at 405 North Cityfront Drive in Chicago.
