The 85th annual Bud Billiken Parade and Picnic gets started at 10 a.m. Saturday in Bronzeville.

The DraMatiq ImpaQT, Jesse White Tumblers and Chicago Ultimate Tumblers acrobatics will all be performing, DNAinfo Chicago reported. Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown will also be in attendance.

The parade will launch on Martin Luther King Drive at Pershing Road and will head south to 51st Street, where the event concludes in Washington Park with a picnic.

New ‘People Spots’ pop up

Alderman Tom Tunney in his weekly newsletter announced the installation of two new “People Spots” in the 44th Ward.

The seasonal seating areas are located in Lakeview outside of Osteria De Pizza Metro at 2863 N. Clark St. and El Nuevo Mexicano Restaurant at 2914 N. Clark St. The spots – which feature planters and free Wi-Fi – are scheduled to be in place through October, when they will be placed in storage until next spring.

First installed in 2012 under Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s Make Way for People initiative, the miniature parks are intended to beautify the city’s commercial districts and promote walkability.
