According to the latest count of absentee ballots, incumbent Deb Mell has extended her lead in the race for 33rd Ward alderman and remains above the threshold necessary to avoid a runoff.

The Chicago Board of Elections on Tuesday released the results of its most up-to-date count of absentee ballots. According to the board, Mell has received 4,092 votes, 13 more than necessary to win outright.
