Rep. Kelly says poverty and gun violence go hand in hand

U.S. Congresswoman Robin Kelly (D-Ill.) highlighted her efforts in Congress to reduce gun violence while speaking at a City Club of Chicago event Thursday.

Kelly said events like the Sandy Hook tragedy and the ongoing epidemic of gun violence in Chicago motivated her to campaign on gun control issues while running for office earlier this year. With gun violence at American schools, airports, shopping malls and everywhere in between regularly making headlines, Kelly said that much work lies ahead.
