Judge grants 6-month extension on deadline to allow gun sales in Chicago

U.S. District Court Judge Edmond Chang on Tuesday agreed to provide Chicago with a six-month extension on a court-imposed deadline to begin allowing gun shops to do business in the city.

Chang said in his ruling that the extension – which Mayor Rahm Emanuel contended was necessary to allow the City Council to pass ordinances regulating the sale of guns in Chicago – will adequately meet the officials’ needs, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
