City Colleges Board OKs new president, furniture buy

On Thursday, the City Colleges of Chicago Board approved the appointment of a new president to Olive-Harvey College. Angelia Millender will be coming to CCC from Broward College, a community college in the Miami-area that the Aspen Institute in 2012 named one of the top 10 community colleges in the country.

City Colleges to launch nursing program at new Malcolm X facility

City Colleges of Chicago officials on Wednesday announced the planned opening of the streamlined City Colleges of Chicago School of Nursing in 2016.

The nursing school, which is set to open in the new $251 million Malcolm X College facility on the city’s Near West Side, will replace nursing programs currently operating at the Daley, Truman, Malcolm X and Wright colleges, according to a City Colleges press release. The new facility will provide students with an opportunity to receive instruction in “a virtual hospital environment,” according to the release.

New College to Careers programs on their way at Kennedy-King and Malcolm X colleges

City Colleges of Chicago Board members on Thursday approved another round of new courses for Kennedy-King and Malcolm X colleges. As early as next fall, students will be able to enter a hospitality management program at Kennedy-King or a physical therapy assistant program at Malcolm X.

City Colleges of Chicago has received favorable ratings from two major credit rating agencies on $250 million in bonds it plans to sell this week.
