CPS head Barbara Byrd-Bennett matched the passion of her detractors at the Board of Ed today in arguing for 54 school closings.
But the actual facts behind these proposed closings – like whether they will really improve the education of elementary school students – are hard to say at this point.
The Sun-Times has reported that, based on the ISAT state achievement test, the claim from Byrd-Bennett that every student hit by a school closing will next year attend a stronger school is simply incorrect. CPS, though, told the Sun-Times that, according to their multi-faceted school performance assessment model, Byrd-Bennett’s claim is true.
