Jim Soreng began serving last month as the Illinois Beverage Association’s new executive director. Soreng is a vice president with Chicago-based public affairs firm Resolute Consulting.
In his role, Soreng will work as a liaison between the non-alcoholic beverage industry, elected officials and members of the public throughout Illinois. The IBA’s membership consists of beverage distributors, bottlers and employees. The beverage industry directly or indirectly employs more than 100,000 Illinoisans, according to an IBA press release.
With Resolute, Soreng engages in public outreach programs and advocacy campaigns on behalf of the company’s clients. He was previously employed at the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office as a regional manager. Soreng has worked on several state and local campaigns, including late Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar-Topinka’s 2006 gubernatorial bid.
“I look forward to working with the members of the Illinois Beverage Association and the thousands of Illinois residents they employ as we advocate for policies that help working families, support jobs and grow the state economy,” Soreng said.
