We reported today that Emanuel’s plan to hire about 120 traffic control aides (prior reports have put the number at 100, but OEMC officials said it was 120 at the budget hearing) for the Red Line reconstruction project is moving forward.
But as followers of Emanuel’s tenure may remember, the mayor gave pink slips to 72 traffic control aides back in 2011. The Sun-Times reported in February that some of the hires for the Red Line reconstruction project might be these former aides. However, the new jobs are part-time and, for now, temporary.
