Cinespace hosting “Galaween,” a Halloween charity benefit

Cinespace Chicago Film Studios will host its first annual “Galaween” charity event on Oct. 31 with proceeds benefitting anti-violence causes in the city.

Cinespace’s nonprofit organization, CineCares, is in charge of organizing the Galaween party.  Established in 2014, CineCares raises money for anti-violence campaigns and awards scholarships to students who are interested in pursuing a career in the arts.

The event will feature appearances by many notable actors and athletes, including Terrence Howard of the critically-acclaimed Fox drama “Empire,” which is filmed at Cinespace Studios. Chicago Bulls star Joakim Noah will receive the Legacy Award during the event for his commitment to community work.

Proceeds from ticket sales will be used to provide resources for children and families that have been impacted by violence in Chicago, Cinespace President Alex Pissios told the Chicago Tribune.

Galaween will kick off at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 2621 W. 15th Place. Costume-wearing is encouraged. Tickets can be purchased here.
